APEx: ASCENT Propulsion Experiment

About the APEx Team

The mission involves coordination between the Electric Propulsion and Plasma Laboratory (EPPL) and the CubeSat Design/Build/Test course at Purdue University.

EPPL provides vacuum chambers and diagnostic equipment for testing a variety of electric propulsion devices, specializing in microwave and laser diagnostics of plasmas. They are responsible for PMPD development and testing.

CubeSat Lab consists of 25+ multidisciplinary students with Phase A design experience from the FLaC-Sat Mission. The CubeSat Lab team is responsible for mission and satellite bus development, integration, and test.

  • Vacuum chamber testing & plasma diagnostics (EPPL)
  • System engineering, bus design, and integration (CubeSat Lab)
  • Project management and cross-team coordination
